Who is an armed Security Guard/Officer?

An individual who is employed by the legally registered security company or a proprietary security agency for protection of person or property from any kind of offensive activity is called as security guard/officer. A legal security guard will have all the licence and documents up to date and cleared from the particular departments of the state in which he is working.

Functions of a Security guard defined in Section 71 of Article 7 of the General Business Law

• Protection of persons and/or property from harm, theft, and/or unlawful activity;
• Deterrence, observation, detection, and/or reporting unlawful or unauthorized activity;
• Street patrol service;
• Response to, but not installation or service of, a security system alarm.

How can I start my career as Armed Security Guard or Officer in USA

Decide in which state you want to work

Go to the department which is responsible for licensing of security guards ( who provide guard card)

Know what things are required ( training and documents) some require pre training some do not require

Complete the training from approved training provider

Apply for guard card or license in the Government Department after completing the training.

Armed security officer/ guard requirements in USA

Age- You must be more than 21 years at the time of application for armed security officer or guard.

Citizenship- You must be citizen of US or you must have US work visa.

Physical /Mental condition- You should be physically fit and strong, Mentally sound and competent

Moral character- Should hold good moral character.

Addiction- Free from Alcohol dependence, Free from narcotics addiction or any other kind of addiction.

Disability- Free from any kind of physical disability which may prevent you from giving your full performance.

Criminal back ground checkup- Criminal back ground should be absolutely clean.

Training Requirements- Must complete the training requirements according to the state in which he wants the licence; every state have some difference in there training requirements.

Finger print- You have to submit finger print documents which are electronic mostly; you can get your finger print for security guards application forms from any of the state authorized services. there are many services out there.

Other documents- there are lots of other documents which you have to produce at the time of license application these documents may vary little bits from state to state.

Submit all your forms and wait for the license.  you can download provisional license until your permanent reaches your home.

Complete the primary training then apply for license then complete the additional training and keep renewing you license.
